Keep an eye on the water: seals, sea lions and whales play just offshore from the lodge.
Castle Rock, a 14-acre island about half a mile off the Crescent City coast, is a wildlife refuge used by several hundred thousand seabirds each year. It's closed to the public, so bring binoculars and watch from shore.
Walk among old-growth coast redwoods, the tallest trees on Earth, a short drive from the lodge. Pets aren't allowed on park trails, so check the park's website before you go.
